Posting in the Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one of Mrs Hinch's fans asked why she has silverfish in her house - and how to get rid of them.

Silverfish are silver-coloured, wingless insects which have a fish-like shape and movement, but they're also known as "bristletails".

They are usually found moving around corners of the floor in bathrooms and other damp areas.

However, they are also commonly found in bathtubs, basements, kitchens and attics.

The Hinch "army" as they are known were quick to suggest remedies to get rid of the pesky bugs.

But first one commenter suggested working out the cause - as there could be a problem somewhere in the house.

"Have you had leaks anywhere? The previous owners of our house had a continual leak from the bath that had seeped through to the floorboards, we've fixed the leak aired it all out and recarpeted upstairs - only seen one since so hoping its (sic) done the trick," they wrote.

Others suggested removing any papers or cardboard that they had in the house as it could be attracting them.

Fans recommended Dethlac Spray (Image: Dethlac )

But fellow members of the group also revealed how they had got rid of them using various sprays and pest control products.

Multiple members said they used Dethlac spray, which is currently only £4.50 on Amazon - and works on all crawling insects.

The insecticide can be sprayed on surfaces and soon dries to a hard clear film, which kills insects within a few hours of coming into contact with the area.

Surprisingly, another fan said that Wood Silk - a polish which the group has recommended for cleaning surfaces to make them look brand new - kills them instantly.

Others used ant powder to get rid of theirs, saying they hadn't seen them since putting it down every few days - though they did warn it can get a bit messy.

However, another fan recommended a product that's made for exactly this type of insect.

RugRemedy Silverfish Killer Spray is £12.50 on Amazon and claims to protect against the pests for up to a year.

"I had these flipping pains! Got this from amazon haven't seen any in ages sprayed in the bathroom and kitchen," said the fellow Hinch follower.
