Ane place to await is windows updates.

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Ostend if any updates were installed on that date.

On the WIndows update page click on Advanced Options and then Choose how updates are delivered.

On the "Chose how updates are delivered" page if the starting time option is turned on, the MS is using your computer as a "mule" to evangelize updates to other people. That would account for network use.

Besides cheque in the Recycle bin, if someone was using your system and they were sloppy, there could be deleted files there ("sloppy" considering there is an option to delete files without putting them in the recycle bin).

Hullo, Paul, TCPIPView is safety, I would non put y'all incorrect . . .

Actually TCPIPView is more for monitoring your network activity should this sort of thing happen again . . .

As for what was downloaded on 11/sixteen/2017 between v:30 PM and 6:30 PM

In that location are 2 possible means to discover that out:

1.
Open up Windows File Explorer and double click on your C Drive in 'This PC'

Click in the Search Box
The Search Ribbon should become active
Click Date Modified drop down and choose Today
Then click the blue text in the search box, a agenda volition appear
Select the 16th and give information technology fourth dimension to search - information technology can be a while

In the resulting search, y'all should be able to run into what downloaded . . .

2.
Click your First Button, type Event Viewer and hit Enter
This will open up the Consequence Viewer app
On the left, click the arrow beside Windows logs to expand it
For each log, click it and scroll down through the events to find that engagement and time
This might requite you some clue as to what happened at that time and what was downloaded . . .

Pitiful, misdirected you lot. the Advanced Options is on the "Update Condition" page

Distressing, I practise not know of whatsoever way of identifying what was up or downloaded during a specific fourth dimension. In that location are many utilities that tin monitor you internet use. The problem is that near of them focus on full volume and speed. Very few provide any ID for the file or programme that is doing the upwardly/downwards loading.

http://world wide web.cucusoft.com/netguard.aspx#CheckHist... is one exception I found in a QUICK search. It at to the lowest degree identifies the program doing the traffic.

You will have to do your ain search to find a improve suited application to place Futurity traffic.

This article tells how to apply built in tools to monitor network traffic, including application doing the work:

How-do-you-do Dave,

I used the event viewer to view my PC activeness for 11/16/2017 betwixt 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM. I run across several alarm messages and fault letters. Information technology appears something was trying to download and install some apps or security files, I'g not sure.

Could I email you a couple of screen shots of the upshot viewer and go your feedback? I really do not sympathize what was occurring on 11/16/2017, merely it did last for virtually 2 hours and looks a flake suspicious to me. I practice non see a style to attach screen shots on this community web site, peradventure I tin answer back with the text?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks Dave,

Paul

How-do-you-do Paul, sorry i had to get some sleep . . .

Tin you do one thing for me:
Click your Start Push, type winver and hit Enter
In the resulting dialog, have a notation of what version No. of Windows 10 you are running (1709, 1703, 1607 . . . etc.)

Due to the amount of data that has been downloaded, I am guess it was the Fall Creators Update that was downloading. If you are not running 1709, then that is the almost likely scenario . . .

Of you desire to post screenshots you tin exercise that hither or upload them to the deject (DropBox,OneDrive . . .etc.) and mail service a link here and I will have a look for y'all . . .
